FMG and Nextel Cup

2004-06-09

With just a few days until the June 12th Legend race at Irwindale, it hardly seems likely to expect the driver and team to have any attention on the Super Late series, but as Kenton works on setup of the Number 1 car, its the main topic of conversation.

"Getting into the Super Late class stands as the team’s current target and goal - I can easily run both...." Kenton is certain and confident as he stands next to the recently acquired trailer and tow rig purchased by the team to handle racing transport as well as sponsor and team hospitality functions.

"The rig was never intended just to handle a Legend car. It was built for a Super Late, and the plan is to be running the Super Late series before the end of the 2004 season - Nextel Cup just keeps getting closer and closer."

Having recently qualified himself as a NASCAR driver, Kenton's words are nothing less than the bottom line. And his vision to run the FMG team in the Nextel Cup series by the 2006-2007 season continues to be the driving force that keeps the "family" pushing the envelope.

The best experts in the racing world will all agree that Kenton's goal to make Nextel by 2006 is well beyond any realistic expectation. But no one can disturb his convictions nor his determination with any opposing views. He's going for it, and that's all there is to it.

I think he's going to make it. I actually don't even have any doubts about it.

We're anticipating a win this week at Irwindale with the Legend car. It's our time out. Kenton's gotten the "ropes" and the car will be set up nicely for this event. The Landreths are about to get a surprise. I'll "eat crow" later if it doesn't work out that way, but Kenton is really driven and the FMG spirit is high.

THIS IS AUTO RACING!!!!

See you there!
